New Delhi: The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has issued a public notice urging citizens to report any activity related to the storage, sale, manufacture, or use of firecrackers within the city. This follows the permanent ban enforced by the Delhi government on December 19, 2024, in line with Supreme Court directives.
“In compliance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s order dated November 4, 2024, the Government of NCT of Delhi issued directions under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, on December 19, 2024, imposing a year-round, complete ban on the manufacturing, storage, sale (including online delivery), and bursting of all types of firecrackers in Delhi,” the notice stated.
The DPCC has called upon individuals, institutions, and organizations to strictly adhere to the directive. It also warned of legal consequences for violations and encouraged the public to report such cases through the Noise Pollution Grievance portal (ngms.delhi.gov.in), the ‘Green Delhi’ app, helpline number 155271, or the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) at 112.
